You could try using Private Health Insurance Australia - iSelect & it will give you an idea of which is best cover for yourself.

One of the first things you should do when arriving in Melbourne is arrange Ambulance cover though. God forbid if anything did happen & you needed to be taken to hospital by ambulance you might be left with a hefty bill to pay.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
We did take out the ambulance cover a few weeks.
I have contacted that iselect company and they cannot help us apparently as we are on a 457 visa and classed as visitors/overseas so will need to look more into it i think.
They did give me a number for another company who specialize in health care for overseas working visa people!! but it all seems very expensive compared to the normal ones i saw quotes for on that i select and not much cover included for the monies.

Wondering if it is worth it after all?? as we will get the medicare reciprocal care and we have the ambulance cover too

I just don't know now

Hi,

yes this would be in addition the the reciprocal medicare we will receive.
Was getting worried about the medical levy surcharge and the over 30 charges but all in all i think that may even be cheaper than an overseas medical health insurance policy
