pet passport

Has any body taken their pet to australia on a pet passport? We have been assured by our vet that with the passport there will be no need for quarantine.

We are bringing our dog over, she hasn't got a passport but has to undergo a number of blood tests that AQIS require before she's allowed to enter the country.

Not sure if she still needs those tests if she has a passport try taking a look at AQIS website or try ringing the kennels that are processing everything for us as they are based in Bristol and have been extremely helpful. Overhill Kennels, Bristol here is their email address: k9meg@overhill.co.uk if you use these kennels they will make the transport case for your dog and take the dog up to Heathrow on your behalf. We've been quoted 1,300 approx for the flight and transportation of our jack russell plus we then have to pay for her blood tests. You could also try contacting Jets4Pets or Pet Air as they have both been extremely helpful as well.

You will need an import licence from AQIS and an export licence from the UK think its DEFRA or someone like that before any tests can be done and before you can book the flights.

We re-homed our dog but things haven't worked out with my Uncle's personal relationship so we've bitten the bullet and we are brining her over even though she's 9. She is going to love it here though as she'll have a great outdoor existence and plenty of parks to walk her in plus the beach.

Hi

They dont need a passport to come to Oz only if they are going home again. I would double check with the company that are shipping your dog as some vets dont even have a clue about what tests they need (well mines didnt). Even with the blood tests they still have to do 30 days in quarantine. I cant see Oz letting them in without Quarantine to be honest.

All the animals coming in from the UK have to go into quarantine for 30days, the pet passport means that if you go back into the UK you will not have to put the into quarantine.

Yes also my vet had no idea about what he was talking about and the shippers are the best people to ask about this.

It turns out to cost an awful lot of money, but what do you do. The pets are like a member of the family and cant just be left behind.

Thens there is the dilema of what pet goes and what pet stays.

Nobody asked them if they wanted to moved to Oz...

Hi there

What kind of pet do you have? I bought my cat over from the UK and she was in quarantine for 30 days. As mentioned above, the passport is for if they re enter the UK but pets definately have to stay in quarantine upon arrival in Oz for 30 days - no way out of this.

I thought the same about my cat being part of the family and it cost me over 1500pound in total to bring her here, but i regret it as she was so very distressed and continues to be almost a year later. Looking back i think it may have been kinder to have found her a new home.

Hope it goes well, Lindsay :)

Also just add that if you do decide to go ahead, I used a very good company called Pet Air UK who took all the stress away of organizing it.

They basically did EVERYTHING for me, they even picked her up from my home in Nottingham and drove her down to London prior to her flight and did pre flight health checks.

They organized all the paperwork and everything, as mentioned before, it cost a lot but was so much easier for me.

The company is run by vets and they are very through, you are assigned your own personal vet upon paying a deposit and they are available at all times to answer any questions you might have.

Heres the website…
