Schools in Melbourne

Hi, My husband and I are considering moving out family (2 kids aged 8 and 6) to Melbourne and would like to get advise on the best primary and secondary schools. I have tried to find league tables but can't. Can anyone give advise on where the best state schools are. Thanks.

JBEJ,

I agree that it is not easy to find this info. I am looking to travel out to Melbourne with my OH and 2 children (2 and 5) later on this year. However I have managed to source some useful info, I suggest that you consult:-

1) "The Right School in the Right Place" booklet published by Vic Govt. It can be found at Study in Victoria - International Students - Study Victoria this site also has a school locator. I found this guide very useful.
2) There is a Good Schools Guide. however I have not purchased this yet so cannot comment on its usefullness. However I propose to when I get round to it. This can be ordered at Good Schools Guide Victoria 2008 - Australian Magazines :: iSUBSCRiBE - magazine subscriptions online.

Good luck

Pre-School/Nursery Education ... Help?!

I'm planning to move to Melbourne at the end of this year (hopefully), however am finding it difficult to source info about Pre-School/Nursery education. My children will be 2 and 4 (just) when we move - has anyone come across any useful sites for this age group, specifically the various childcare options, good schools, education curriculum ??

Thanks.
