Not seen those signs, but will keep an eye out for them. It is a road that does actually flow quite well but a couple of times I have been stopped at every set of lights!!

Nelson... don't know what to make of your post. I have never mentioned anything about my right to anything. The only thing I said that I expected was for the place to be at least 'ok'. I didn't say I should be more priveleged than anyone else and should have this, that or the other... so I don't really know where you are coming from.

My posts are my impression of this place - the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think it is unfair for everyone who arrives here to paint a perfect picture. What right have you got to imply that this is the case and I have got it wrong?

I don't mention junkies on the train because I want everyone to be put off Melbourne - I mention it because it is fact. I am the kind of person that works off hard facts - this is what I have posted. I'm sure it offends some who love this place and haven't had to live where I am living at the moment, but i'm sure there will be people out there who are now a bit wiser about what to expect when they arrive.

Hey Buck! I tried to word my response carefully but clearly failed miserably!.. I just want to be clear about something.. We all appreciate the negative as well as the positive feedback and that is the whole point of the forum. Your posts are indeed your impressions and, sadly, one of the downfalls of text only communication is the lack of emotion that we can express using that medium alone. I clearly misinterpreted your impressions and was careful to try not to be confrontational. I certainly do not claim any 'right' and in no way dismissed or suggested that you had anything wrong at all. We are all entitled to our opinions and I respect yours as I would anyone's. I have never tried to paint a perfect picture of Melbourne and some of my earlier posts (from a year ago or more) will confirm this. I too was, and continue to be deeply shocked, at the drug culture, the gambling problems, the alcohol abuse... In no way did I intend to offend and I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my post. I simply wanted to point out that there is a wealth of richness on offer when you know where to look. This will come with experience, effort and time invested in the whole damn thing!

I might add though that your first impressions sounded very much to me that they were coming from a very angry, tired person who simply didn't want to see the good things.
I have never, in any way shape or form contested your opinion.. Perhaps you would like to re-read my post and reconsider whether you still think I was out of order.

All the same, Im sorry and truly hope you do settle soon and discover the bounty on offer in Melbourne

Ok... sorry. I obviously did misinterpret your post and i'm glad you followed up on my reply. To be fair it did read like you thought I expected large acreage, etc, and I was keen to point out that I had never said what my expectations were. And just to clarify... I am not angry - just disappointed.

So thanks for clearing things up - you are right about how things come accross in text, and I should have realised that rather than shouting at you. Lesson learned!!
