Victoria State Sponsorship

Is anybody else looking to obtain State sponsorship?

Their application process seems to be fairly straightforward; I'm just wondering how long they take to say yes/no.

If successful, what help do/did you get in terms of suppport to settle in and find work?

We've got state sponsorship with Victoria (through DH) - can't remember exactly how long it took - but it wasn't that long and as everything was electronic it was much quicker than we thought it would be.

They haven't offered us any help in finding work, but then we haven't got visa through yet. They have insisted that we complete a few e-mail surveys once we are there, but that's it.

I have a friend who was also sponsored as a teacher with Victoria and she didn't get any help with finding work, but after a few months of supply she has a good job in a private school.

OH is a teacher (pre-school/primary) with over 10 years teaching experience (lately at a senior level).

Wonder what her prospects are re employment and pay?

Any idea where and when you'll be going/staying? - assuming there's no hic-ups with your visa that is.

Our agent lodged our visa application online last friday so hopefully about 6 months to get it and then 2-3 months to get sorted and get over there. Looking at somewhere affordable like Pakenham (Victoria) area but depends on hubby's job really which hopefully won't be in the CBD!

Hi guys,

We have Victorian sponsorship and they only took 2 days to say yes, I think it all depends on your circumstances. The only thing we have been put on is the job register where employers look on the gov site to see who's coming over with what qualifications and if they have vacancies they write/email/phone to offer an interview etc.

Bloody hell that was quick guys!! what skills are you going on? I see you have front loaded your meds/pcc's. When are you expecting a CO? Hope it's soon for you

Hi Andy & Julie,

We are sending off for PC's about the 14th March, as the new PC's only take 10 days, then doing med's on the 27th March, so hopefully all results will come together at the same time. We are looking to get a CO in April (fingers crossed), as there is a 3-4 month back log at the mo and as you can see from our timeline we applied for our visa online on the 24th January, so by the time everything comes back we should be just ready for a CO, if you get what I mean. We are going on a subclass 175 which is the new version of the 136.

How about you?
