My BIL lives in Lara which seems to be a nice town outside of Geelong. His son goes to school in Geelong and his wife works in Werribee I think.

Hi Kelly,
We are in Geelong now on a reccie
Local knowledge (and newspaper reports) tell us that Corio is definately one too avoid.
We went there yesterday and although the houses looked OK, there was definately something about the place that wasnt right - will explain more in a PM if you need any more info.
Lara is nice, and good value.

Hi,

I think the two places to avoid are Corio and Norlane - given the choice, I would prefer to stay in Corio as opposed to Norlane.
I suppose it all falls down to affordability - houses are much cheaper in these areas (for good reason).

I have family who live in Corio and the area they stay in is quite nice.
You really need to see the areas to make your own judgements
