What's the weather like at the mo?

Hi guys,

OH and I are coming over to Melbourne next week for a recce and just wanted to know what to pack. Is it still quite hot over there right now or is it cooling off?

Just a general outlook to how it's been over the last few weeks would be great.

Thanks!

Hi Ruby
Weather here in Melbourne is very nice indeed. We had rain yesterday the first time since before Christmas, and also had the coldest day in 2008 so far(21.6 C). Today it is 26 C,tomorrow it's forecast to be 30 C. There are storms forecast for Sun/Mon/Tues next week but they never seem to materialise to anything much. I think it's just the weathermen trying to give us a hope of much needed rain. The only time I've felt really cold this time of year was when we visited Phillip Island to see the fairy penguins. We left Melbourne in 30 C in shorts and T shirts,by the time we got to P.I. the wind had turned southerly and it was bitter. So if you go there I'd suggest something warm otherwise unless you go up in the hills ordinary summerwear will be fine.
Enyoy your visit

P.S We are off to Tasmania by ferry next week for 10 days, looking forward to that,we will be taking a jumper or two with us,but have been told we probably wont need them.

Hi Mike and Connie,

Thanks for the info! I was going to take a light jacket but I don't think I will do now - maybe just a cardie?

Am looking forward to coming over and checking things out.

Enjoy your trip to Tasmania!
