Help!!!

Hello out there, after visiting oz in Dec 2006 we have decided to possibly emmigrate.I am ready, but my wife is not totally convinced even though her sister has lived in Frankston for 3 years. We have started proceedings with an skilled independant visa in which we applied in Aug 2007 and we are still awaiting the outcome. How long is this going to take? What can i do to convince my wife its the right move for us and our 2 kids Jessica (9) and Harrison (6) ?

Hi Steve
Give her a newspaper to read and then make her sit in front of the tv and watch the news then about 7.30pm go for a drive around and make her have a good look at what is happening. Then when Harrison & Jessica are asleep make her look at them and ask herself is this where she wants your kids and grandkids to grow up, but also it's not just for them it's for you as well . There is no certainty that Oz is going to work out for any of us but if you can afford it it must be worth a try.

She's got to want to go off her own bat. Nothing worse than being stuck out here and not wanting to be here. I dont think it is quite as easy for women as it is for men. Something about the family and friends support network seems to be more of an issue for women.

If it isnt something that you can come to a mutual agreement about without browbeating, guilting or any other sort of blackmail either financial or emotional then it is not the thing to do. It isnt just a matter of jolting her out of her comfort zone and she will be fine, it is more a matter that she WANTS to go, to move to something rather than escape from something else.

Thank you for comments, i feel its the worry of the unknown that frightens her the most but if she decides its too much then i guess we are staying put.

Why dont you just say that if you try it (and give it a set amount of time) and if you dont like it, agree to come back. Say better to have tried any not like it and come home, than not try at all and have regrets. That said if she really doesnt want to, no point in forcing her....good luck

theres no sure fire way of convincing her,my wife tried it with me for 5 years i went back to uk 7 times and left my family here backwards and forwards i went with all our friends thinking i was a nutter.its been 7 years now and ive got my own business very content and wouldnt go back for anything.if you get here look us up im in mornington just down the road from frankston darrylhorner007@hotmail.com good luck.
