Relocating/Coming Home-RSMS Visa

Hi,
My partner and I are looking into moving to the Mornington Peninsula. My partner having previously spent 26 years of her life there. Unfortunately, my partner cannot go back home on a returning resident visia because it's been some 12 years after moving out of Australia. We are both over 45 (just!). So our best option is for me to obtain an RSMS Visa (Regional Sponsored Migration System). I have over 20 years experience as a builder. We are currently living and working in SW France.

My question here is; Has anyone got one of these RSMS visia's? If so. Was it hard to do etc. Any thoughts on this would be gratefully recieved.
Thanx
surferjoe

Hi Joe

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

This forum is much smaller than British Expats and although I have seen RSMS visas mentioned on PiO, I do not recall seing any info about them recently. I think that a search of the Immi forum on British Expats would probably yield more useful results.

Why do you believe that you would be confined to the RSMS visa though? The ENS visa is available regardless of where you live in Australia, ditto the temporary 457 visa if you find that a potential sponsor insists on that first.

Best wishes

Gill

RSMS Visa

Hi Gill,
Thanx for the info on the other visas. I will be looking into them!
We are due to talk with an immigration agent sometime this week, based in Victoria. Not sure if you've delt with them, or know anyone else who have used them. They are called; gomatilda. I'll be mentioning these vsisa to him.

I believe the reason for the RSMS option, was because of our age (over 45) and that we wanted to relocate to the mornington peninsula specifically, as my partner knows it very well and she should be able to gain work there too.

Anyway, many thanks once again.

Best regards,
surferjoe
