Good areas on the Mornington Peninsula

Hi All

This is the first time I've been brave enough to post, but have gained lots of great info from you all - thank you. We, that is hubby, 3 kids (12, 11 & 8) and myself are hoping to move to the Mornington Peninsula area in November. Anyone know what areas are good and which best to avoid? Have been looking at Somerville and Mooroduc, anybody know what they are like? Also any ideas about Primary and Secondary schools on the Peninsula.

Thank you Jo

Welcome to PIO........... it wont be long before your addicted too!
We're also heading for Mornington on the peninsular - (we are hubby- plumber, me-superwoman (like most Mums !!!) , boy-16, boy 14, girl 13 & another boy - 10)
Its a bit further away fron Melbourne CBD than Mooroduc but it's sooooooo lovely!! Loads os things to do, good schools (Frankston South has the best state secondary school in victoria) and everything you need, aswell as terrific scenery & fantastic beaches !!!!!!!!!
Heres a couple of links you might find of use...........

Hi Sally-Ann

Thanks for the advice and websites I've had a quick look (loads of usefully info) and will spend longer exploring them once the kids are in bed. When are you hoping to be out there, may be we can meet up once we are out there?

Jo

We (Lyn, myself and 3 kids) have lived on the Mornington Peninsula for the last 10 years and have not looked back. We have a property for rent - short term- at McCrae 800m from the beach if you need a place to stay.

We would also be very happy to give you any information we can re the area, schools etc.

Hope your plans are going well

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew, we are arriving on 29th Sept and whilst we have accommodation for 2 weeks with relatives in Mount Martha, it maybe that we would need some short term accommodation mid Oct, until we can find a 6 month let or buy something.

I will e-mail you, could you send me some pics and availability and costs please.

Thanks a lot. Chris & Dave

Hi again.......................
There are loads of people heading for Melbourne, especially the Mornington Peninsular, so there's bound to be a few "meet-ups"
There is a long thread "Who's going to Melbourne.........." on the Talk about Victoria sub forum, check it out to see who else is going !!!
We're hoping to be out later this year........ fingers crossed & might see you in Oz one day !!!!!!!!
Keep us posted

We will be arriving in South Oakleigh on 14th September. We aim to be living at the top end of the peninsula! I am a primary school teacher and hope that I will get a permanent position in time for the start of the academic year at the end of January. I'll keep you posted about schools in the area - I hope to do some supply work prior to Christmas.

As Sally-Ann says, there will be plenty of poms meet ups - hopefully!

By the way Sal, get your flights sorted, my hair will need doing about October time !!!!

Felicity
