Hi Amelia
We have lived in Mornington for nearly 2 years. It is a lovely quiet, picturesque seaside town. Lots to do for the kids and great schools and childcare facilities. I can recommend ABC child care at Bentons Square, Bentons Road. Fantastic staff and very professional. Bentons ( Mornington/Mount Martha is the up and coming housing area, lots of new builds and in line with property prices in the UK. Lots of young families. The beach side of the Nepean HWY is older and more expensive than the older more established properties on Non Beach side. As for amenties in Mornington, you will find pubs, cafes, loads of shops on Main Street and a couple of decent supermarkets.
There are gyms, if that is what you are in to. There is a local Drive in Cinema at Dromana about 20 mins south which we have used a few times to get a night out for a change with the kids in tow tucked up in pyjamas. The beaches are family friendly, Mother's Beach and Mills Beach are safe for younger families. There is a lovely park at the end of Main Street that has BBQ facilities and is just near the beach.
You are 20mins from Frankston Town Centre where you will find everything you need.
There is a Bunnings store in Mornington which is the Australian version of B&Q.
Very pleasant area with a good community feel.
Good Luck
Hope this helps.
