I'm slightly baffled by a few things... For instance, when it's 17 degrees in U.K., I'm sure everyone was warm and happy but 17 degrees in Melbourne is bloody freezing! ..
Also, 5km here seems like 5 miles! Has anyone else found this?

Yeah I found that. It was 24 the other day and I was quite hot. When we were in Brisbane it was around 24 and its was comfortably warm. Strange as we left the uk around 10 degs.
Also found the road signs in metric, not a problem, until you pass a sign for six mile creek, or twelve mile creek. Quite amussing.
Our youngest bought some fishing gear in Sydney and the shop owner asked what size weights he normally uses. When my lad replied about an eight of an ounce, he didn't have a clue. Although, none of us knew the metric weight, so it kinda evened out!
I laughed when I read this cos I've been feeling so cold in Sydney the past week or so and the temperatures are about 17/18 - that would be a bloody heatwave in England!!! My friend is out here at the moment on holiday and she says I've turned into an Aussie woos and wouldn't last 5 minutes back in England now - haha!!
