Its all been happening since I last posted a thread! We're due to fly at the end of August (with Emirates), first to Perth to stay with my Aunt who lives there. Then we plan to take a holiday in the South West for a while...
The next stage of the adventure will be to buy a car, and then drive all the way across to Ballarat, Victoria, where we have some good friends.
Its amazing how things can come together. So, those of you who are buried in bureaucracy - take heart!
Our next challenges are a) when to change our Sterling and b) who to change it with.
Any ideas / recommendations / warnings? We'd love to hear them!
Good luck to all of you
We plan to settle in Ballarat: we have friends there, and the place looks great! Close enough to Melbourne, but far enough away to not be just another suburb.
Yes Ballarat is mighty fine, like many regional cities in Vic, not too far from Melbourne

Hey Andy! Congratulations! The slog has paid off! We were in Ballarat a couple of weeks ago and I, too, can confirm that it is delightful! I'm sure you will be pleased with your choice!
Hi Special K - thanks for your reply. So, what are you going to do in Balaratt? What about accommodation? We've heard a lot of great things about Balaratt and its environs - can't wait to get there!
Andy and family
Hi Andy & Family
You lucky people to know that your actually going!!
How about Money Corp? We met them at one of the migration seminars and they have had alot of good reports on here in the past. www.moneycorp.com
Ballarat is great... We've been here for 3 years last week
Great to see that Ballarat is your destination, we moved here 3 years ago (myself, my wife and 3 kids) from Kettering. We love it, I work in the Melbourne CBD so take the new high speed train each day (1hr 15 mins) which is great commute through some stunning country.
We've got everything here (apart from water) and it's a great life.
We are both teachers so that's the plan; arrive in Sept and have a few weeks to settle in. My wife used to live and work in Ballarat (shes from Geelong) and I've always loved it there.
[i]deally we'd live in Melbourne, never get tired of it there, but I think Ballarat has the best of both worlds
Accomodation; Ballarat Nth has some nice pads, we looked at a couple of houses when we were out last Aug
Good luck between now and then, be nice to stay in touch and share ideas!!!
