Hi again,

Thanks for the replies. Yeah we want permanent residence too and like you, for the kids. Just makes things easier. I think its subclass 137 visa we are going for??!! We spent a long time on the pc the other night and things (I think) got a bit clearer. I guess a learn a bit more every time i log into the diac website. I also found out we could apply for the visa and not wait till the STNI was approved (fingers crossed).

Anyway, know what I'll be doing this weekend................. paperwork!!! ARGH!!!

Ta again x

State Nomination - Skills Matching Visa Application

If you aren't eligible for a Skilled Independent visa and find yourself relying on a State Nomination I recommend either:

1. Awaiting the State Nomination before you apply for a 137 visa

or

2. Applying for a Skills Matching visa (no Visa Application Charge initially - for this subclass if visa the VAC is payable at the end of the application visa).

Option 2 is usually the way to go if you find yourself approaching a deadline (eg your 45th birthday) with a State Nomination not yet confirmed. We have adopted this strategy successfully for a client when we lodged a Skills Matching visa application with the Skilled Processing Centre a few days before his 45th birthday. A State Nomination came through from the WA Government a week or two later, and a permanent residency visa was granted a few months afterwards.

Best regards.

Hi again,

OK ive finally decided............ skill matching (subclass 134), is the visa im going for..... only taken about 3 months to decide that!!! Im so glad this site exists (and for ur advice alan). As usual I was reading it wrong and thought an oz employer had to sponsor you. Not so tho!! I didnt really want to be tied to any employer there as that's what I did coming to NZ. Today's been such a decisive day haha.............. also decided my OH can do the forms, just got to tell him now tho??!!

Think its time i opened that wine!!

OK - make sure you complete the Skills Matching pages in the form 47SK as well as the other main pages ... if you don't it will be an invalid application => NOT GOOD!

Best regards.

Hi
Just thought i'd add my twopennith worth... we are going for the STNI subclass 137 in WA...

It's all been very straight forward... We could not meet the points the normal way due to OH's unusal occupation...so OH had his skills assessed by the IEA and from that we found we were needed in WA ... we applied on line and within 3 weeks we were given confirmation we would be sponsored by them... since then our application has gone in and we have a case officer and having our meds done on Tuesday... It's all gone really fast and it's very exciting!!!

Good luck with your application

min x
