Where to live near Melbourne?

Hi Folks

We're just looking at the suburbs around Melbourne trying to decide where is best to move to. We would really like advice from people living there already.

We would like to live in a nice area within 15 minutes of a beach and within 1 hours commute into Melbourne. What would you suggest?

It's starting to sound like the Mornington Peninsula for you I would think

We are also looking at the Mornington Peninsula. We have friends there already who live in Mount Eliza and they love it, especially for their 4 year old. He commutes to Melbourne everyday by driving and enjoys the scenery but apparently there are also really good rail links. Have you looked at www.realestate.com.au. It can give you an idea of house prices but will also show you all the suburbs as well.

We are hoping to join the Mornington/Frankston South club too, like The Sharmans & Joanne ........... there are quite a few Poms already out there and is meant to beautiful , as well as have everything you could possibly need there too!!!!!!!

Sally Anne, Thanks for those links. I have bookmarked this thread to my favorites so that when I need to start doing the nitty gritty stuff like deciding which area to live I can look at them. Still very early stages at mo, waiting for TRA decision, on pins !

Sharmans, hope everything goes to plan and you get there in January. Hope to join you not long after, the sooner the better. Lots of coffee mornings, me thinks !
