Question A question for the Mornington gang??????

Hi to all those already out there, living it up........ (Missiemo, Jonzeys etc.etc,)
Can you give me any advice on a decent junior school for my boy aged 10... he will hopefully start year 6 (as we are hoping to be out there with you all later this year!!)
I have decided on Frankston High for my other 2 , and probably college for my eldest.
Just had'nt given it a thought up till now, about where the baby of the family would go.... how awful of me!!!!!!
Any advice or suggestions would be great....
Thanks

Hello Jonseywife.
Our youngest, Charlie goes to the same primary as Mo's girls, Osborne Primary which is in Mt Martha. This is a great school but probabley too far out if you are going to be in Frankston (which you will need to be if you are going to send the older ones to Frankston High). My older son goes to Chisholm TAFE College in Frankston and it takes about 15 minutes to get there from Charlies school. I am not sure which primary school would be nearest to you Deringya is one and ive heard its pretty good. I think in the end it would depend on which road you are in.
Sorry not much help am I!!
Lesley

Hi Lesley
Thanks for that.... it WAS helpful!!!
I have just checked out the Chisolm College site aswell. I was well pleased coz my oldest wants to do Plumbing and they offer courses there, so thats great. I have e-mailed them already for advice on how we would go about geting him in.
Can I ask how you managed to get your son in, was it tricky???? Obviously you had to wait until you was out there???? Does he like it there & what course is he doing?????
I'm soooo bloody nosey............ but this is all a great, great help.
Ta very much xx

Still gotta get my little um sorted out yet, but hey, im sure there's a school or him somewhere!!????? That's Three down and one to go!!!

Hi Gill
Try this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educati...ia#Normal_Ages

I found it helpful, explains the years, ages etc., and varies from state 2 state.
If your daughter will be 17ish by the time u get out to Oz, it really depends on what she wants to do..... I would have thought college would be the best bet or even finish off year 11/12 at Secondary school.
If all else fails, get her out to work!!!!!!!

Hi Gill, think your getting your Jones's in a muddle. The last reply was from Jonseywife and they are still in UK.
This one is from The Jonezys Down Under.
Anyway back to your question. Lou was already 18 when we arrived in december, so he started college in the january with the kids that had just left school in the december before. If you can get your daughter to carry on her education over here, it will be a great way for her to make friends.
Jonseywife, have you got a first name, it might make things a bit easier lol.
Lou is doing.......Computer Science and Applied Advanced Maths???????????????
Please dont ask what its all about as it goes right over my head, from what I can gather its all about web design and the maths is all about binary codes and numbers, if that helps!!
He is enjoying college and getting on really well. Chisholm is a huge place and runs lots of courses. Louis applied for this all by himself, on line. We were already in Aus but once you have your PR visa and date of arrival I dont see it would be a problem to enrol from Uk before you go but not sure on that one. I can ask Lou to find out for you if you want.
On the visa front, we went thro' everything you lot are and all your feelings and emotions are perfectley normal. This site was a big help in getting me thro' the process.
If there is any thing I can help with just give us a shout.
All the best, Lesley

Hi Lesley........
Looks like the Jones will be taking over Oz now!!! It does get a bit confusing - that what you get for having a common name !
Thanks for all the info.though, Im sure i'll need to pick your brains again.
Your right, this site is great at easing any worries and everyday problems that normally dont get answered. Cheers all (& Tim ofcourse.)
Best wishes & have fun.
Sally-Ann x

p.s checked out another junior school right opp. Frankston High, so that would be very convenient - Overport - have you heard of it????
