Public transport - commuting from Geelong to Melbourne

Geelong looks great, and an hour to commute is OK.

But does anyone know how much the travel costs? V/Line are a bit unhelpful at the moment. Looks like it's $21 return, but how much is a monthly or quarterly ticket?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Spock.

Hi Spock,

V/Line is still a bit antiquated in terms of ticketing...it does peak, Off-peak and that sort of stuff. It doesn't yet do integrated ticketing (like Melbourne's public transport system) but word is that this will come during early 2007 (that probably means late 2007).

$21 is peak. The weekly tickets and monthly tickets are (AFAIUI) based upon off-peak pricing,... but all that will change when the new system arrives.

Not much help there really... but anything i tell you right now is definitely time-limited.

Good news is that the trains themselves are pretty good, pretty fast, and pretty comfortable.

Thanks Fraser,

I'll just have to sit tight for a while. Still working out the finances for the move.

Cheers,

Spock.
