BOOZE!

This is a critical issue for me and the wife! How do prices of spirits, beer and wine compare to the UK?

Thanks guys!

I believe they are cheaper over there! So long as you don't drink imports.

Hello!

Am sitting here supping Banrock Station sparkling white shiraz and it cost me $6.70 ish so that woud cost approx £2.67.
We have found the alcohol to be cheaper here.

Oh yes real Ale, lager etc it's all here. You can also find UK named products here, tho the locally produced stuff is so good. Alcohol is cheaper here, certainly the wines produced in Oz are exceptional value for money. Just be warned here in Vic it's against the law to drink alcohol in public, ie on a train, etc. And stuff bought from your local Bottle shop is put into brown paper bags.

Ok - Ifyou enjoys the odd glass of red or white plonk - and not toofussed about its quality i.e (table wine) - you do get four litres of the stuff $10 - approximately £4. It really anin't that bad - the equvelent would be your £3.50 bottle from morrisons....

Hi

Well we just brought a box of six bottles of local wine called clearskin for $10 , so very cheap, Banrock Station is a nice wine and cheap and you can get Jacobs Creek for just $5.95 when on promotion and beleive me they have lots of them here.

We've also got that great Aussie invention... the drive through bottle shop!! They are everywhere (city and country towns) and you basically just drive your car in and the cheerful guy takes your order and loads it all in the back for you... Makes buying beer in bulk a breeze. Forget struggling in and out of UK Off Licenses, and you generally buy beer here in boxes of 24 bottles.
