Sorry, Tim

I'm being thick, can't work out what the criteria are for a password for the Melbourne forum. Tried mixture of letters and numbers, tried letters only... and it doesn't like my home email address either. Help!

Hi everyone

I had the same trouble.

We're the Taylor family, hubby a sheet metal worker, i work in a school, got two children 14 and 12. Got our visas about 6wks ago just got the house to sell, we've had 4 viewings but just waitin, waitin and more waitin(thats all you do, fill in form and wait)

We were hopin to get over to Melbourne by end of Jan/Feb so get the kids sorted into schools.

We have been looking at areas around- Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, and our favourite Point Cook, so any info about these areas greatly appreciated

Taylor Family :)

Hi
Have you been to Werribee? I only say this as it is quite a travel to Melbourne and is on the wrong side of the Westgate if you want to be visiting the City on a regular basis. We moved to Williamstown in our first year here and we found the distance to the CBD (where we work) to be a problem, also it seemed that everybody we met lived on the East of the city which was a problem when socialising. Point Cook can also be a problem as there is limited public transport.

Not meaning to slag the West of the city off as there are benefits (bigger houses - more land) but I just thought I would share our experience.

Good luck with the move.

Chris

Hello to the Taylor family!!

We are moving to Pakenham in June of next year from Liverpool. Only reason there is due to Sister living there at the moment, is there anywhere else around Melbourne we should consider???

Nicola, Jody and Reece (6 months yesterday!!)

Hi Jody, Nicola and Reece,

Pakenham is a nice area, country and not far from Mornington Peninsula/Phillip Island. If you wanted to live within commutable distance of the city though, it would be a bit far out. Berwick is out that way, a little closer to the city, also you could consider the bayside area of Melbourne, such as Mentone, Aspendale, Frankston South. Wouldn't bother with Frankston or Seaford though, high crime rate there. If you have lots of money, you could try Brighton/Elwood, close to CBD, beach and still right side of city to go to Pakenham. Hope this helps, good luck, Amanda from Parkdale.
