Melbourne it is then....

I think  After looking and looking and looking we have decided to 'park' ourselves in Melbourne. The climate is a big factor (dont really fancy all year round heat) Jobs is another , hoping that there is plenty of work as it is a big city.Houses on the outskirts of town seem quite reasonably priced (point cook area ?)
Melbourne also has a very good all-round reputation as a great place to live with plenty going on .
Do you think we have made the right choice (me,wife,2 young kids) or am i really wide of the mark  :?
Veiws/opinions greatly appreciated,

regards,Lee

Hope your not off the mark at all mate, cos they're exactly the same reasons we are aiming for Melbourne ourselves (me, my wife & the dog!).

Just got approved visa's and the house goes on the market this week.

Good luck

Melbourne is a fantastic city - I have lived here 31 years and very happy. It is very, very big though ( sprawly) so you need to make sure you can get to work if you are working in the inner city. The traffic is awful and it can take a long time to drive in of a morning, depending where you are living. Many people take the train because it is quicker (like London)

Hi Lee,

I think you've made the right decision... We're just waiting for our pre-grant letter then we're heading out to Point Cook - as so many of us ex-pats seem to be doing.

It has been said that there will be more brits in point cook than Aussies, but that's ok with me.

Steph x

Good luck with the 'big ok' x

Hi Steph,

Must admit we have been looking at Point Cook As you seem to get a hell of a lot of house for your money. Is this because its all still reletively new ?? Are there many ammenities near by and how close is it to a decent beach ???
I suppose we wont know where to settle untill you can have a look around :?

Regards,Lee
