Moving to Melbourne

My fiance , my daughter and I are moving to melborne hopefully within the next couple of months ! could anyone give me advice on how long a sub-class 457 visa takes and what kind of things do you have to go through etc!

Hi Alison
Our 457 came through in 5 weeks.
You will need to get your X- Rays done - you can down load the form from the immigration website. It also tells you where you can get them done in your local area.
They will need certified copies of your documents, job offer etc. We did our application on line so scanned all they needed onto there.
We didnt need a medical - not sure why, cause it seems everyone else does - so check that out.
We found the process very straightforward and was shocked that it took so little time.

Hiya! just a few wee questions! how long have u been in melbourne? r u settling in ok, which suburb r u living in? ive been looking at loads of suburbs , goin 2 wait till we get there and rent for 6 months and in that time have a good look around , r u finding life a lot different etc? do u have kids? if so what age, we have a 14 year old girl who has surprised me a lot, she hasnt put up a fight at all about moving 2 aus which takes a bit of the stress away, which is good cause i have loads of that at the moment, cant seem 2 think about much else, its in my brain 24 hours a day! anyway enough of me rambling on, would b grateful if u could get back 2 me about what life is like 4 u and ur family! Cheers!

We are leaving the UK in 3 weeks and 6 days, and heading for Melbourne, we have three daughters ages, eleven , eight and two, all very excited, all the best of luck for the move

Thanks mo! i bet u r so excited u cant contain urself, r u shipping ur stuff over 2 aus including furniture etc? we arnt sure what 2 do yet whether 2 sell everything or not, do u have a rough idea how much it costs?
