Spanish Restautants - Melbourne
One of the things that I'm really gonna miss from Europe is being able to have a decent Paella. I know that a good curry house is also gonna be needed but I will need a Paella fix and it would be a bit of trek coming all the way to Valencia to have one.
Any tips would be heartily received!

I just carried out an online search and came up with the following Spanish restaurants in Melbourne ...
La Paella Restaurant 217 Sydney Road, Brunswick, VIC 3056 (03) 9380 6955
Santiago Restaurant and Bar 14 Armstrong St, Middle Park, VIC 3206 (03) 9696 8884
La Pena Spanish Bar Restaurant 480 Victoria St, North Melbourne, VIC 3051 (03) 9329 8408
Simply Spanish 116 Cecil St, South Melbourne, VIC 3205 (03) 9682 6100
Hope these help.

Basque on Chapel street, Prahran.
I haven't eaten there yet but went past one night and it was Paella night with Live spanish music, they had a massive pan of paella on the go.... looked and smelt fab!!

looks like I'm gonna have to experiment a little bit. I've made a few google searches myself but was hoping that someone has already been to and can recommend an authentic restaurant. Still gonna be in Melbourne for a long long time so it'll be fun to eat out a little!! Thanks for everyone's replies!

Queen Vic night market
Fab food, fab music, fab atmosphere... not exactly a restaurant tho.
Try searching on www.urbanspoon.com.au
Or, if you have an iPhone, get The Age Good Food Guide and/or Cheap Eats apps when you get out here - we've found them quite useful. We're going to try Movida on Hosier Lane sometime soon but that only does tapas, not paella. Maybe try Johnston Street area? We had fab tapas (and gorgeous wine and a very nice Brazilian waiter) at a little restaurant up there but for the life of me I cannot remember the name - there are a few places up there though. Experimenting is half the fun!

I know this thread is a bit old but.... Garcia & Sons has just opened in Prahran and is meant to be fab!
I assume you know about Movida as well? Pretty pricey but well worth it!

Yes movida- better than most even in Spain. You have to book ahead though, very popular

When I was a kid my mum had a tapas bar in Gibraltar so I cook Spanish food regularly. It was my job to gut the squid when I came home from school (thanks Mum) but at least i got to have some calemares as a treat!
I get my Spanish spices and stuff online from http://www.saborear.co.uk/
