They would need to have some money reserved as changing countries can have unexpected expenses. You may need a deposit for a rental property and some money to pay rent until you can secure a job.
Money will be needed for food and travel expenses as well. You may want to get a mobile so that prospective employers can communicate with you too. Some people also want some money to act as a buffer just in case getting a paid position takes a little longer than you might hope.
I know how worrying it is leaving your home country for one that is foreign and strange in customs to the newcomer, but you will probably make friends quickly and find you settle well, but it is all a bit of an adventure into the unknown.
