UK May General Election 2015

Neck and neck with long long odds on any party winning an outright majority, a minority win is the only real possibility with Labour and Tories looking for help to form a coalition, the bookies have Labour slightly ahead in the race for a minority win, who is your money on?

Sorry all the various bookmakers are supposed to be across the top but when I copy and paste that aint showing.

If you think that get your money on it the bookies are offering up to 7/1 put £10 on and get handed back £80

Interested to see those odds PB. I do think that voters tend to go with the devil they know when they step into the voting booth, but maybe we'll see a minority Labour Government instead?

I can envision it being so close that we might see a second election later in the year like we did in 1974.

I totally agree with this. I've worked in the polling booths many times and have always found it interesting to see the facial expressions as the voters arrive, as they walk through the door a sort of seriousness comes over them. We'll never know what they are thinking but I think the above is definitely in the right direction.

David Cameron seems like a very nice bloke.

I'm sure he will get a 2nd term.

He won the 'Better Together' campaign and I think people like him

I'd say it was gordon brown that saved the "better together" campaign but that's just my opinion from living here. I'm not sure I'd agree that maybe people like him but again.. Just my opinion.

Not sadly, at least for me. I think that the same government in power will mean investors don't panic and the GBP/AUD rate will hold steady, maybe even go up. Just my opinion though, I'm no expert!

Hmm...he may have won the battle but then immediately froze out the Scots who voted to stay together by backing plans to stop their MP's voting on English laws.

This may see the SNP back a Labour minority government.

Then will he feel like he won?

Who cares what investors think? This is where we get things wrong.

They are there to make money and not interested in what affects the voters.

Whereas as a voter I care about the crime and poverty near me, the library closing, my police and nurse friends being undervalued and squeezed more and more.

I really hope the tories get back in to power, ideally under their own steam but I cant see it.

Living in a very working class town in the north I feel I have no option but to vote UKIP, the Tories simply won't get a sniff of it here and Labour are just ignoring the things I am most concerned about.

I have no real love of UKIP but Labour just are not listening.

Landing in Australia the day after the vote? I don't expect they will do much for people in my position :biglaugh:

But I honestly think a vote on the EU has to happen I don't even know which way I would vote myself but certain parties are just ignoring what is a huge issue in this country and basically saying we know better than you. There should be a campaign run like in Scotland where the pros and cons are laid out for all to see engage with the public let them decide in a democratic fashion.

Would you be satisfied if the public said 'lets stay in'?

As a emigrant from the UK to Australia sometime soon, I care what investors think. If it means I have $200,000 when I land in Australia instead of $150,000 then that's good!

Besides that point, since Cameron and his gang have been in power since 2010, I haven't seen more crime or poverty, nor have I seen any libraries closing, nor have I seen any police or nurses being squeezed more. I guess things affect everyone in different ways.

I guess it depends where you choose to look.

Whilst the exchange rate may fluctuate i don't think your money would be so wildly affected - 25% depreciation is almost unheard of for major currencies and as we are such a good bet on the bonds market there would be no run on the pound like there was on Black Wednesday.

But you say you'd vote UKIP as a protest. And if they deliver the referendum and we stay in the EU - then where does that party go?

i just feel it's a subject that needs a referendum owing to what I percieve as public feeling. If it doesn't come off in not bother what happens to UKIP I'm not a UKIP fan I just know Labour won't give the public a voice and UKIP are the only party in my area that could maybe beat Labour.

As I said I'm not sure which way I would vote.

I hear you about Labour and UKIP also most likely to usurp them where I live but for me UKIP have no policies that will benefit the working class in the North - otherwise they wouldnt be bankrolled by finance and housing developers as they are. They just want more of the same as the Tories do - and its hard to tell the difference between Labour and the Tories on most policies.

Paul, iam with you on these points...and I cant defend the growing inequality across the western world...i personally would have a minimum wage of £10 an hour

BUT ....it wasn't the tories who built the millenium dome ...how ****ing much ?......sent soldiers to dir in Iraq and Afghanistan on a false premise......and allowed in 200,000 non e.u immigrants per year into the u.k ...which over their period in power ,adds to over 3 million people.

This is an island 800 miles long by 300 miles wide...how many people do we want to fit on it ?

On top of that labour nearly bankrupted the country.....i have called the economy and its debt " the runaway train ?,and its still rolling.

In my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with our NHS ....just too many people using it

Paul, I fully respect your stance, and haven't got time for a tit for tat,I will be one of the 15 -20 % voting ukip.....they may get a couple of seats......I care about my own poor and elderly first and not everyone elses

We can pick on many things that x government did wrong - money wasted, soldiers sent to wars that only benefit oil and construction companies, IT projects over running etc. But these are the mistakes that all governments make - and hindsight is a wonderful thing. By all means vote UKIP but don't buy the propaganda about labour causing the GFC as it was a worldwide crisis and we came out of it much better than might have been because us taxpayers bailed out the banks. Look at borrowing figures and they were well within average range up until 2007/8 when the crisi hit / and its increased ever since.

Only this morning the Tories were blaming the GFC for poor growth in the last 5 years so even they know they are being disingenuous blaming Labour.

i too care about those in need in the UK but you can bet your bottom dollar any money supposedly 'saved' from foreign aid will be lost in tax breaks for businesses that already avoid tax - your old and infirm loved ones will be left to the dogs.

Agree with most of the above. What sent a shiver down my spine was talk of Labour n SNP coalition, they would empty your pockets, tax heavily and break the country almost overnight. The minor parties including UKIP should be treated with care, they are amature and extreme in their opinions, single policy parties with no thought other policies! UKIP and Conservatives is too far right, Conservatives and Lib not ideal but best mix. Lab n UKIP won't happen, Lab n SNP please no! Lab n Lib far left and will financially break the country in trying to control and reverse recent changes with no good reason.
