Importing Car from UK to Australia

Hi,
We are considering emigrating next year. Any ideas on the cost of importing a car from UK to OZ? Value will be about $8500 next year. Diesel Renault Megane. Any help and advice would be great.

Thanks

David & Beverley

Hi guys,

There are a lot of costs involved in importing your car. We thought of doing the same thing but after weighing up all the costs, it wasn't worth it. Have a scan through the search section for importing your vehicle I'm sure you'll find what your looking for. Good luck.

Helenx.

Helen,
Thanks for your reply. We suspected it might be an expensive process.

Thanks

I lookied into this a while ago - And it is quite expensive. Unless its a special?? car, i.e. classic or some sentimental value. I think i am just going to buy new once out there.

As well as the transportation costs and import tax dont forget to add all the hidden extras such as steam cleaning and any adaptions necessary at this end ,,theses are normally not mentioned when getting a quote and dont half add up,,

Forget taking your car. Sell it before you go. Buy a good Jap car or a Holden when you land.

You might get some ideas, and laughs, from this thread :-

Yeah I couldn't believe it either.
