Law for childrens carseats??

Hi, i was just wondering what the laws were for carseats in oz (Perth), my daughter will be nearly 3 when we get there and i was wondering if i could buy a booster seat rather than a carseat, i know here in the UK they have a guide to which seat according to childs weight, do they have something similar in oz?
Thanks!

Hi Suzy they do have guildlines here but I beleive each state is different, try and google dept of transport for the state you are going to. Here they use a booster at 3 but it is a full seat booster, they are like lightweight polystyrene and are used with a seat belt, not too expensive to pick up baybe about $50. Itw the younger childrens seats that are very expensive and have no functions like lie back etc, my 1 year olds is crap compaired to the britax I have in the Uk, but they must have be ankered in here so did have a choice.

There has been talk on the news over the last week or so that the legislation on car seats will be changing. It sounds like it will come in line with England and children under the age of 8 must use a booster car seat of sorts.
