Flights

We used The Great Escapade - Welcome for flights to see Oz and quite a few other places as well you get 29000 miles starting at £860 plus tax. Air New Zealand were very good but I couldnt complain about Singapore Airlines or Virgin Atlantic, saw some wonderful places including Cook Islands, Norfolk Island, Christchurch NZ, Hong Kong and Capetown, if you go the USA way you get a 2 piece luggage allowance... a whopping 64kgs which can save a fortune in excess baggage fees... whilst in Oz we too a backpackers air pass with REX airlines, just £200 for a month and as many flights as you like... a bargain!

We did Air NZ and had 64kg each when we emigrated, we had great flights and did:

London Heathrow - Los Angeles
LA - Auckland and then Auckland to Brissie.

We actually still had 2 extra bags OVER the allowance but they charged per BAG and not per kilo so it cost us 150 UK pounds per bag. Small price to pay when emigrating. I`ll give our check in girl her dues, she realised we were emigrating and tried to waive the charge but some jobsworth said NO!
