can anyone tell me if you need a bike licence down under or can you ride on a normal car licence

Hi Tony,

I am sure you need a bike licence as you would in the UK. If you already have a UK licence though then you can transfer it. I have a bike licence and when I was in Oz before they transferred it straight to my northern territory licence after passing the usual written test.

OH has a motorbike license here in the UK. We have been advised that to ride in Victoria he just changes his license over like his car license!

If you have a full uk bike licence it is a straight swap for a Queensland one.There are restrictions on new bike licence holders such as no pillions etc,,hope this helps
