Car Hire

Hi all,
Anyone got any advice on best car hire companies, prices and how to go about organising car hire (online before you go/wait until you get there?)
We were in Brisbane at Christmas and used Avis, we were only there for 4 days and paid for car hire through Trailfinders can't remember exact cost.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are hiring a car for when you migrate ,,remember to get one big enough for all your cases ,we had 9 cases ,4 hand luggage and 2 kids one needing a car chair ,,rented a big estate from i think 'Brisbane car rentals' and just managed to squeeze everything in.we emailed lots of different companys asking for a quote for 4 weeks hire and compared prices.

When I was last in Brisbane I used Red Spot and they were great (and cheapest!)
