where do i live?

Hi Everyone, can anyone help. My name is Emma and I have just been offered a job at the RAH as a nurse, I will be bringing along with me my 7 years old daughter and I just cant decide where abouts would be a good place to live (I have got time to decide as hopefully I will be moving in jan 09). I know I dont want to live to far from the city but I am well aware that I will be on a budget as most of my money will be going on childcare, until i get my residency. Can anyone advise me on some good family centered suburbs which aren't to expensive and that have good schools (i have been told that you don't have to pay fees for all schools). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Emma.

My OH is a nurse and I have an ex colleague who works at Flinders in Adelaide. We are looking at moving to Adelaide or Hobart, in 09 as well, depending on what jobs comes along for myself. I think from what I have researched, Happy Valley and Tea Tree Gulley come recommended if you have a young family. Also, some areas in the Adelaide hills might be worth considering eg Stirling. I am making a reccie out in May so will feed back more if you require it. All the best with your move.

Cityboy.

Hi Cityboy

That would be great, i would love to go for a visit myself b4 the big move but unfortunately as usual evrything comes down to money. Any info you could pass on after ur visit would help a lot. As for the areas you have mentioned i will look into them further. Thanks again and enjoy you trip to Adelaide. Look forward to hearing about how it went.

dimmock family is on a distinguished road
Hi Emma,

I work at Flinders med centre (Acute), which is the other side of the city from the RAH. I live in McLaren Vale (semi rural suburb in the vineyards) and it takes me around 20-30 mins travel each way. That said I didn't want to live next to the city so opted to go a bit further out and don't have an issue with driving the distance to work (better than the UK). If I can be any help I am only to pleased to be of assistance if I can. BTW public sector employment is very similar to the NHS (similar problems / issues) so I found the similarities a little comforting in a strange kind of way. Anyway going now Beach/fishing lifes so hard here but someone has to do it! See you soon

Dean, Angie
