yet another four wanting a bit of the good life

Hi everyone.
How many of these have you read. Myself and the family are looking at making the leap to a fresh start. I'm currently a policeman and have just left details with the south police. Just wondering ifs theres any police officers that have done what we are thinking of doing and any advise would be great. Also the wife works with challenging behaviour as a care assistant so wonder if theres any call for this work over there.

Thanks kevin

Hi Kevin

When i initially began to look for work in OZ we were looking at South. There is work out there for your wife if you google disability services south australia you should get some results, i am a registered nurse who has worked with people who have challenging behaviour and mental health problems. Also i think one service is called Julia Farr or maybe not i know that over the last year or so disability services have had a big review. Tends to social care though not health. Sorry can't help with police bit.

Has your OH done any kind of NVQ??

Good Luck

Hello Kevin

Welcome to POms in Oz.

I have just read a thread started by another new member (called Kev, which might get a bit confusing between you!) However, he is nearing the end of the visa process and will be joining the WA police, it would seem.

His thread is here if you would care to contact him:

Best wishes

Gill

Hi Kevin

Unfortunately NVQ 2 doesn't count for anything much my OH has NVQ 2 in health and social care. I think the wages are on a Par with UK maybe slightly less, but can't say with any great confidence.

My OH also has over 23 years experience in NHS

good luck
