Looks like we're coming...Adelaide

We've gone from Melbourne, on an stni...not right job exp...
so a student visa to Brisbane was the plan....
Now it looks like after looking in to Marks army career...we can apply to Adelaide on SIR as a General Communications Tradesperson for a 2 year temp visa, then we can apply for PR.
Our only concern is that whist its in demand, Marks job doesn't look as in demand as in other states. He is a Regional project manager for Structured Cabling networks (computer cabling networks for large buildings and stuff) most of the work on Lan/WAN Fibre optic networks and communication equipment seem to be in melbourne... Can any one tell me different.
If the works not there, i dunno if we're better going to brisbane to learn a new trade??
Any advice peeps??

Leanne

Very hard to say I'm afraid.

Adelaide is a lot different to Brisbane.
The weather here is certainly different!! It is quite cold here today, log fire burning etc.
We have all 4 seasons here, which we love.

Brisbane is certainly more up and coming commercially so more work is available.

Here in Adelaide the pay is less but but the lifestyle more affordable at least.

HI Leanne and Mark,

Brisbane and Adelaide are certainly quite different cities , but very similiar in ways!

If you have a solid career opportunity in Adelaide I would take it as cost of living and Real Estate is still cheaper than other state and is a good starting place for you.

There's news here that alot of money is being put in defence in S.A as well as the mining industry.
It might be worth looking for work in these areas, as I know they are recruiting right now.

My husband works in this field and to be honest skilled people are hard to come by.

Good Luck

Not bad thinking.

Rather than move back to the UK there are other states/climates to live in once you can live here permanently.

I've seen people come and go from Adelaide, some return after trying other areas.

Best of luck
