Houses in Northern Adelaide

Hi there,

Just wanted to check with you all. If we head for Adelaide OH would be working near Edinburgh/Elizabeth. We seem to have found a few good schools in the Para Hills/Craigmore/WynnVale areas, however there seems to be a general census on this site not to buy in the north areas of Adelaide. Could someone be more specific or recommend any other good areas that are communtable to Edinburgh or that may also have good, preferably Christian Schools. Thanks

You might want to try having a look at Golden Grove which is an okay area and not too far from scruffy Elizabeth

Thanks dwaldron. Is that the only area up there you could recommend? Also while I ask - do you know which is the best soccer club to get into for youth coaching? My youngster is v keen to continue his development and will be 15 plus when we get there. There seems to be loads of football clubs which is great to see - do you know if there are any soccer academies. Thanks again.

It's quite difficult to suggest other areas I'm afraid. By Adelaide standards the northern suburbs can be a bit grim. If you don't mind the slight isolation and a half hour drive to work then I would start looking to live in the Adelaide hills if I were you, places like Chain of Ponds, Gumeracha, Birdwood etc. It will take a bit of a drive to get to work etc but it is a beautiful and peaceful area.

As for soccer, I understand that it has taken off in recent years. I haven't lived in Adelaide for more than five years now but I know that my nephew has become quite interested in it, perhaps the amateur soccer league http://www.saasl.com.au would be able to point you in the right direction?

Golden Grove and Greenwith are both really nice places. We have friends who live in Greenwith and their house is amazing with fantastic views down into a valley. There are some good schools around that area too.

Golden Grove and Greenwith are close locations to the schools we have looked at (Tyndale Christian/Kings Baptist Grammar and Bethany and Temple Christian Colleges) but I am still reading such negaative comments on the northern suburbs. Do you know why? Any other info or info on these schools would be great. Thanks.

It has a higher level of public housing than other areas and is home to industry.

Hi Mrs TinB - I looked at the Bethany Campus site. - Is there better Christian Schools in other parts of Adelaide?

Not heard anything about the Bethany Campus, but have heard and seen not very good things in the Paralowie area, however that does not mean to say that the Christian school there is not very good. Not sure about other Christian schools in that area. I know there is one up that way called Andrews Farm, I know there were having a few staffing problems but that is all I know about that school. Sorry not much help in that area of Adelaide.
