Do you habe an opinion on Aldinga Beach. How far minutes wise from City and whats it like generally. House prices seem good at min. (probably doubled by the time we get there!!)
thanks in advance
Kiki
Aldinga is nice but there is a heck of a lot of building going on at the moment.
It is a little far for commuting.
Look at Seaford,Moana,Hallett Cove,Woodcroft,Aberfoyle Park and Happy Valley as well.
In Onkaparinga Hills where I live there is a nice estate called the Huntingdale Estate, some nice houses there that are affordable.

Like you we were very interested in Aldinga when we were in the UK. When we arrived we ewnt tearing out, it looks great. Lots of building, lots of beaches BUT not much going on for the kids. I felt it was great if you have been here a while and are taking your friends with you when you move there BUT if you are looking to become part of a community then Aldinga was not right for us in that sense as their was no community feel. We also felt aht it was too long for commuting into the city.
I would like to stress that this is my opinion and I apologise now if I have upset anyone!
I read alot about what Tyke wrote about the hills around Morphett Vale and that inspired me to drag the rest of my crew into this area to have a look around. We loved it and have now rented a place in Sheidow Park. A huge thank you to Tyke for being a super star and convincing me to take a look.
It is very hard to give advice if you haven't seen it but generally the only area really to avoid is Elizabeth. I didn't like that at all...

Some people love Elizabeth!! My experience is really limited to driving round the area - and it looks pretty good. There are some less prepossessing sights walking round the shops, as well as some fab shops (in the new centre). I don't know, but my OH knows a couple of people who have large lots on the outskirts, and they love it....horses for courses, I guess....
You haven't upset me, as I'm really not that deep! However, I always think Elizabeth is a bit of an embarrassement for us poms as it holds a massive population of ex-Brits. It does have a bad rep. but that doesn't mean it should be discounted. My daughter's school was seen as a school for hoons ten years ago, has changed drastically, but it takes a lot, and a long time, to lose that reputation. LC

Damn how did that happen. Can I upset you then LC, I've been a bit busy this week and have missed my banter with you. Have to say not heard lots of positive things about Elizabeth. Heard there are lots of Brit-ex-pats in Aberfoyle park. Now what does that tell one!!!
Anyway back to the original subject, when you do a search on here if you want to be near the beach type in these locations: Hove, Seaview Downs, Brighton, Glenelg, West Beach, Henley Beach, Tennyson, Semaphore and then it will give you all the places in between as well, which will give you a better idea of what you are looking for.
Mrs TinB
tinbasher - agreed very nice areas - but house cost are fairly high at those locations - futher south they get very reasonable.. shiedow park, hallett cove, Morphett vale , woodcroft, reynella to name a few - all alittle in land (apart from hallett coev) but where only talking a 5 - 10 minute drive to the beach - been in Adelaide 25 years - started at parkholme worked me way to hallett cove - O'sullivan beach and ended up at woodcroft - all southern !!! beautiful location and close to all services the likes of shops , hospitals, schools etc. Me sister lives 5 mins from the city and i personally hate it - hustle and bustle and well the price aswell - the southern area(s) offer everything i need for myself and family , but again i do agree with you those areas you indicated are great - but come at a cost ! ( alright if ya loaded!!) LOL
Just wanted to say a quick Hi to a fellow Boltonian!! I'm orginally from Bromley Cross but moved down to Stoneclough. Now living in Hallett Cove, Adelaide!
Well good luck with the move. Hope to catch up when you get here!!

Aldinga is going through a huge building boom at the moment.
But............... It is a fair bit away from the city if that's where you would be working though.

Hiya Judi
Just spotted your post. I worked at Harwood for a few years and had friends in Bromley Cross! Now in Melbourne and looking at Adelaide as our visa resricted us to Victoria for 2 years. We are free to discover the rest of Oz from Sept onwards!!!
Seems to be plenty of work in Adelaide for me as a Special Needs Teacher and house prices seem to be a bit lower than Victoria. What about the weather? How do you find it?
How long have you been here?
