What about the food and entertainment

Hi everybody, :D

Got visas, will be moving to adelaide.
Just a few questions. Is there a nice fish & chips bar.
A place that does a good sunday roast,
Evening entertainment for adults, only!
And child friendly restaurants.

This will be a few home comforts, we will miss. SO CAN SOMEONE MAKE ME FEEL BETTER FOR WHEN MOVING ! !

Try the adelaidebrits website and you'll get that much info your head will swim. Good luck with the move.

Pretty much any fish and chip shop will do the trick, although the ones away from Adelaide seem to be better, but it just may be the surroundings. Try Victor Harbor. You won't see cod or haddock though, instead you'll see Perch, Whiting, Garfish and Snapper. I prefer Whiting and Garfish myself.

For what I think is the best pizza bar in Adelaide try the Marryatville Pizza Pan on Kensington Road, Kensington Park.

I can't think of anywhere for a good roast (maybe the Aldgate Pump Hotel in the hills?) but a good place for those wedding anniversary dinners is the Magill Estate restaurant http://www.penfolds.co.uk/experience/dining/magill.asp - it really is spectacular and it's the only place in the world that I know of that will sell you Grange Hermitage by the glass.

Oh, and don't forget to get up early on Fridays and do your food shopping at the Central Market - http://www.adelaidecitycouncil.com/C...et/default.htm almost everything's local and always top quality and super fresh.

plumber+lynne is an unknown quantity at this point
I was in Adelaide about 15 years ago. I remember it being clean and nice looking. However can someone update me? I thought it was strange that in the middle of the city the shops closed for a half day on Saturday, turned into a ghost town, perhaps it has all changed now. Also looked like the only people around the deserted town where 'hill billies', groups of odd people coming in from the mountains on their 'hells angels' bikes. (not meant to be a derogatory statement)

Is the sea generally cold being near the Antartic at certain times of the year? I remember the beautiful Glenelg beach but not sure if water is cold.

Does anyone know of any good private (fee paying) schools in Adelaide or surrounding area? Seen a website for Westminster School, it looks good.

Lynne
