Any POMs up for a surf on the Gold Coast?

Just wondered if there were any POMs on the Gold Coast who surf and fancied catching up with fellow POMs for a regular wave?

If we got enough POMs interested might even make it in to a small social/surf club with friendly comps, bbqs, road trips etc?

Hiya my hubby Gary and anther PIO member (paul of liznpaul) regually go on sunday mornings to Coolangatta or its surronds,think its been a bit cold this last few weeks cause they havnt been but im sure they wont be staying away for long ,feel free to drop me a pm for his number and you can make arrangements to meet up with them.

Yeah it's been a little bit fresher at the beach these last couple of weeks but still gotta love it compared to the UK!! Hasn't kept me out of the water yet!

I started surfing about 15 years ago in/around North Devon and I definately don't miss the winter surfs over there (5mm of neoprene, boots, hoods, gloves and STILL getting numb toes and fingers brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!), give me winter on the Gold Coast beaches any day!!

we had all the kit in the uk as we had jet ski's etc ,used to play down at Abersoch around hells mouth but ,,,i sold everything on Ebay as my rose tinted glasses said it wouldnt get cold in Oz !!!lol, i will drop you a pm with our number

moving to corindi beach in a few months but will be working on the goldie 3 days a week.... used to run a surf school here in jersey and taught surfing in hossegor, france when we lived there so am super keen !!!

More the merrier - might aim for a session at Currumbin Alley one weekend (a bit easier for the novices).

Pommy: are you a total beginner or have you had some experience? have you got your own board etc?

Pommy Gary has only lately started going so is still a novice ,,he is claiming he can get up now but when they venture out at 6am sunday morning theres no way im going to see if he can ,lol,my beds too comfy!

6am?!?! damn I've usually been in the water for half an hour by then already (daylight permitting of course!!). Mind you I imagine its a bit fresher in the mornings out Jimboomba way!!

Maybe when it warms up a bit we can head to the Alley one weekend.

i'm a total beginner, i tried a couple of times in 2004 and managed to get the wave whilst laying down but never actually stood up.
