Can't help you with a physical meet up cos' we aren't there yet but just wanted to say hope things are going well for you and you're settling in. We're hopefully going to be over there by the end of the year and heading Newcastle way ourselves. We'll be staying with my brother to start with, he lives in Laguna (nr Wollombi). How are you finding Ashtonfield?

Its a lovely place to live and so pretty, but its very quiet and untill the kids go to school its hard for any of us to make friends, but they will start school soon so it should get better for us all.
apart from that i think its a great place to live, once we get used to the food and a few other things i know it will be good...

Newcastle here we come.....
Hubbie and I are hoping to go to Newcastle too! We applied subclass 175 end of Jan (paper) without an agent. Were just waiting for a case officer, feel like we are waiting for ever! its so frustrating just want to hear some good news!
Looked on websites about Newcastle it looks like there are plenty of things to do, theatres, galleries restaurants and shops.
How is it going living there, are you liking the place? Is there a good night life plenty of bars and restaurants?
Is Newcastle what you expected?
Would be great to hear what people think of Newcastle!

Newcastle is a lovely place to live, not so much the city but there are some beautiful suburbs all around this area. The beaches are so big and so pretty, people are so friendly and always chatty although making friends seems a bit hard but i suppose that will come in time.
Not had a lot of time for the bars and resturents but there is a lot of them around.
We live hunter Valley which is close to vinyards so looking foward to a few visits to them in the summer, they do tours so you dont have to drive, sounds good to me lol...
The harbour is a very nice place to go at weekends lots of live music and bars ect..
Newcastle is not what i expected but saying that it is still a lovely place, hope this helps a little if you need more info let me know.

Weather for the last few days has been about 20, with a little lite wind
we have been sitting outside in t-shirts, well untill yesterday when our container
arrived, beds oh yes soooo good to sleep in beds again....
weather this morn bit windy but sun is out and warm..

we're new to all this too. we moved to Lake Macquarie area (about 30 mins south of newcastle) about 3 months ago, kids in school making lots of new friends, John and I not quite so many.
love to get together in person or emails, as for tips and help i think it'll be the blind leading the blind.
we arrive in newcastle on monday 8th sept after a few days to settle in and sort internet out we will be back on pomsinoz and maybe arrange a met up or chat.
