Socialising & Get TogethersIf you're looking to meet up with like minded people emigrating to Oz or want to arrange an event in Oz, please post details here.
Hi
both great choices, warners bay probably better for young family, great leisure activities for kids, tarmac walk way around lake great, for walks, bike rides, roller skates, fantastic picnic areas, skate ramp, outdoor swimming pool just up road, ice skating rink,10 pin bowling, weekly shopping close by, home makers shopping for DIY, furniture shops, camping, ect. i think 3 primary schools to choose from, only problem kids have to go back a year over here. our 12 yr old was in secondry in uk had to go back to primary, it has been good for her kids not so grown up over here, 8 yr old found going back to infants very hard talked to the school had her moved up a year now she's much happier. If hadn't chosen Murrays beach to live ( 15 mins away) we would have picked warners bay.
hope this helps, any other questions just ask away will help if i can
sounds great, quick warning our experience oz a bit behind on technology took us 3 weeks to sort out internet. more advice clothes shops in oz cheap but not as good quality as primarkwith the weather getting warmer buy the day i would buy all your summer clothes in uk in the sales before you come.
hope this helps. look forward to get together soon.
bye sallym
we're new to all this too. we moved to Lake Macquarie area (about 30 mins south of newcastle) about 3 months ago, kids in school making lots of new friends, John and I not quite so many.
love to get together in person or emails, as for tips and help i think it'll be the blind leading the blind.

Hi there we will be living in Kotara to start with. With my MIL. Am hugely nervous about making friends/ meeting people. Its ok for hubby he grew up there has friends still. Kids will no doubt make friends easily too. A guide would be great someone to show me the shops and so forth lol

CJ.....what's your hubby think of Kotara? This is one of the areas we are looking at, but for some reason my hubby has got it into his head that it will be TOO quiet...not a lot of young families and generally full of "old" people lol
God knows what he has decided this...but I would interested to know what your OH thinks

Hubby is saying kotara espescially south is a great family area lots of playing fields parks good schools ect. Close to blackbutt for days out with kids. Near enough to the beach a reasonable bus service also close to westfield for me :D His mums street for instance there are only 4 houses that dont have young familys and 2 of these have teenage kids so sounds like a good area to me
