Hi my husband and I arrived August 2007 with our 3 children - our sons 17 and 16 and our daughter 11. We have settled well but miss our family and friends, Our children seem to have a better social life than we do. We have not even met anyone from UK over here! We would love to know where everyone goes for a beer. We miss the social side of things. How did you cope with the social side of things when you arrived and has it got any better?

We are in Wheelers Hill not far from Glen waverley.

Do either of you work? You could have a barbecue and invite some people or a couple from work (they don't just have to be brits do they?). Our kids have a better social life too - we've had a couple of people round and also been invited to places via work. A friend from work invited us to her hubbys birthday (family party), we were the only brits there and had a great time.
