Hiya, im a london girl happily married to an aussie. I have no idea how to work this site, but basically im looking to talk/socialise with poms on sunshine coast. As much as i love this country, i sometimes crave for a UK accent/personality/reminise about UK
Hi and welcome to the site.
Im not there yet in afraid, still in the UK, just north of london. There are quite a few PIO'ers out on the sunshine coast, and a few more heading out soon, you'll get replies soon!

Welcome to PIO
We are from just outside London and been here nearly 12 weeks and lovin it!! Sorry not in Sunshine coast, in Melbourne but know exactly what you mean. Just wanted to say hi!!
ive been here on and off for 2 yrs. After meeting now husband and going back to uk then oz then uk to apply for visa etc. Just getting settled properly now, had a lot to do what with selling property in uk, wedding and now owning house over here etc. So when/where are you coming to oz?
Hi,
sounds like youve had a hectic few years! We've only just sent off OH's TRA, so if it comes back positive we'll probably start the visa process in 2008. If its a negative, we'll have to go through VETASSESS and we'll have to do that after christmas. I sent the TRA off in a rush, so we're not holding out much hope, but we had to try!
We're not sure which area we're moving too, Sunshine coast for me, and Perth for OH. so we'll have a reckie to both and see what happens.
Where were you in london? do you miss any of it? I'll miss being able to hop on the train for 20 mins for the theatre or Camden lock.
hays
I do miss the social scene in UK. The sunny coast isn't very good for nightlife, but great for everything else. I tend to drive to the gold coast (about 2.5 hrs away) occasionally and stay over with friends as its more lively down there. I have party nights at home with friend quite often, im just in the process of organising a 70's disco theme party with frineds. Big afro's, platform, glitter etc which should be good. Brisbanes good to go out in but its a nightmare getting a cab back to the hotels when the clubs turn out, we waited 3 hrs one ngt argh!
I was originally from brixton then wimbledon, streatham, surrey then kent. i was lucky with my visa as it was a fiance one and didnt take too long. I've not been to perth myself but melbournes gd socially. Its like UK with restaurants etc and it gets really cold. When i say im cold here people always say "your from UK, you should be used to it" i always reply "when its cold in UK we put the HEATING on!"
Anyway, dont mean to make you jealous but im off now to take the dogs down the beach(i love saying that). Gd luck with the visas
Hi,thanks for your reply. i've been to melbourne as hubbys got family there. I love the social scene down there and it reminds me of UK but i was freezing (wingeing pom!). I said to Jarret(hubby) that i would only consider moving there if we had central heating!
His family live in Hawthorne, where are you guys?
Jarrets due to fly down in a few weeks for business, i'll go with him if i can get time off college.(i'm doing a diploma in beauty here).
Have you met many english people in melbourne yet?
We are in Mornington, its lovely with great beaches. Houses here do tend to have ducted heating so not bad at all. The weather is also picking up so thats great!!
There are loads of poms here and if you look through previous threads you will see that there are a lot more coming this way!!
If you do manage to get time off it would be great to meet up.
