Hi JoJoe

Well fancy that you being just down the road, there is someone on here who is in Heywood as well, its a small world.

I did my training at Salford Uni. Ive been here for just over 2 and half years now. I had only been qualified for 9 months when i got here so i wasn't sure what to expect. Pity I cant tell you anything regarding getting on a grad program. I know here on the gold coast the aussie new grads get presidence over the new grad positions but it maybe different elsewhere. You certainly are brave coming out as a brand new nurse. I know for me i just wanted to have that little bit of confidence to beable to work independantly as an RN before i came out here and although it killed me having to wait 9 months im glad i did as it made it easy to get jobs. If you've got something lined up then good on you.

Keep in touch and i'll try and give you as much info as i can. There's heaps of nurses on here all willing to give advice. Just a tip, if you're looking for advice ask those that are already here, the information will be correct, up-to-date and much more honest.

Lindsey

cheers Lindsey, yes it is a small world! So did you get a job with just 9 months
experience
, to be honest id rather do that but there are no jobs its awful. At
Leeds
uni where i go, we were told last week that there will be no job opportunities for any of us but 'they' are willing to allow us to work on a ward to gain experience for free!!! cheeky sods!
So there is nothing, i will probably go into a nursing home but its not ideal.
So how does the nursing differ in Oz? is it different other than better conditions?
nice to meet you anyway and you can
guarantee
i shall be picking your bones a bit more yet!!
love
jo
