I used to live in Lancashire, Ashton area, but moved South when I was a kid, in about 1963, although I am told I still have the accent. :)

Hi Both ABC and Cal & Gary ...
I work in Bolton for a tour operator , I work in travel and have been to Brisbane a couple of times now. Funnily enough we have decided today for me to travel out to OZ early July with the kids and Hubby follow when the house is sold.
All of my mums family are from Bury and I work with loads of people from Bury .
How lovely of you to both let me know Iam not alone ....
I dont know if you remember ABC but I asked you about Raceview ?? we intend to move there as its not far from a direct train line to Brisbane and about 40 mins away from Brightview where my cousin lives.
I have mixed emotions, excitment, fear, and many other feelings about leaving my friends and family.
I just really wanted to have a contact who can understand where I am right now and can help with thier experiences.
ABC do you miss the UK ?? I met a bus driver in 1995 ( my first visit) who came from Leeds.. he had been there by then 30 yrs and had no desire to come back.
My job envolves a lot of travel and have visited many countries through work . I just want to be settled working in in bound travel and just staying there.. no more travel.
I feel very priviledged to have gone all over the world, but I have two small kids who have to put up with me not being around for weeks on end . I booked my flights today with Singapore Airlines to Brisbane for the 02nd July AHHHHHHHHHHHH SQ are great when it comes to migration fares, they allow you 40kg on economy when you book a one way fare to OZ with them.
ABC as your older than me ( worked this out due to the dates you quoted ) do you like Frank Zappa ???only asking as I went to a concert on Thurs in Manchester ( ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA) Zappas son Dwezell does great justice to his fathers music .. still on a high from this.......

I think I vagueley recall posting about raceview (down near Ipswich). Hope I gave you a sufficient answer.
My early music tastes were different to that, probably due to the fact that my older brother was into that music, and as we disagreed on everything, I had to have a different music taste. !! :D
I did go through a stage of missing the UK, even to the point of returning to the UK. But.... I realised that I saw the UK with what some call "rose tinted glasses", and was glad to get back to Australia.
The problem is that we tend to see or remember mainly the good bits.
This applies both ways.
If you have been to Australia you mainly think of all the good bits, and only see the bad bits of the UK, making your decision to move so much easier.
However, after a while in Australia, you think of the good things in the UK, and, if you are having ANY problems at all in Australia, you may then overlook the good aspects and only see the negatives in Australia.
This can cause feelings to want to return. However reality is not always the same as your thoughts.
OK, maybe a bit deep there, but that's basically what happened with me.
PS: I am here for good now, one visit back was enough for me :D
