We went up to Sky High at Mt Dandenong yesterday and the views were amazing, the CBD looked like a little tiny island in the midst of it all. They have a secret garden and a maze for the kids, the gardens are beautiful to walk round, theres also a wishing tree, so made my wish - Hope it comes true!! They have a function room and I thought wow what a lovely place to get married!

Bells beach (where Body goes to surfer heaven at the end of Point Break:cry:) is gorgeous, I've always wanted to go there and loved it!! Nice to watch all the surfer dudes doing there stuff!

We haven't had much chance to mooch Melbourne itself but so far I can tell you from walking around I just love the atmosphere and vibe there, just walking along the streets we've been makes me smile:yes:

I know its not everyones cup of tea, but we walked up and down the beach at Surfers paradise which is so brilliant to the eye, the iconic skyscrapers on one side and the fabulous beach and warm blue sea on the other and swam in the sea and rode the waves on our boogie boards and we had a brilliant time and the kids were so excited, they kept saying, can we do it again tommorrow dad, just brilliant.

Fraser Island has got to be a must I would say, even just a for a day trip.

We went last year on hols, and when we go back out in Feb on our WHV will defo do a couple of days camping there, although I think the weather has to be right to make the most of it, we went and it was lashing it down and windy and I think hid the true beauty of it.

We will be in a campervan for the year so if you need a lift anywhere en route on our travels and your nearby give us a shout!!

Melbourne/Victoria

The MCG, I know your not into cricket, but it's well worth a look better when the footy is on.

Puffing Billy, take a picnic lunch on the train to eat at Emerald park lake, also head to grants picnic ground and feed the rosellas and cockatoos, tip head there early and take your own parrot seeds (it's free) but by late afternoon all the birds are full so very few will eat out your hands.

Echuca, great to spend a week on a house boat, floating down the Murray River

Beechworth, Ned Kelly country.... There is a local guide that will hop in your car and show you around the town, well worth the fee (different every time LOL) Great place to see what life was like in the early days

Maldon, Victoria's historic town. Once again well worth the day trip

Things to do in the CBD, Queen Victoria market, Ackland St. St Kilda (coffee and cake, you name they have it) Free trams, any number of the parks all with a bit of history attached Captain Cooks cottage (Fitzroy gardens) designed in the shape of a union jack, take a drive around Albert park lake (home of the f1 races) Then you have China town, the Greek quarter, Lygon St for Italian food, Richmond for Vietnamese food, head down to Bridge road (for the woman, factory outlets) Shrine of Remberance, Southbank, the casino, The Moomba weekend

Phillip Island, need a good weekend for that

The 12 Apostles, even though only 7 are left?

There are loads more but I'll leave it for others

Sydney

Taking a cruise on the harbour, walking up the brigde, having lunch up Sydney tower, the zoo, the blue Mountains

better stop LOL

Thanks Laney, you get it, well done ! Victoria is such a nice place, so many interesting towns and things to see, the size of the whole of the UK, it is not such a small place after all, even though it looks it on the map. I hereby nominate you for a job in the Victorian Tourism Commission. Come out to the wineries in the Yarra Valley and the Healesville Sanctuary as well, a good day out.

Well Pabs, do you want to know about the Skyhigh lookout in the hills above Melbourne, or something else. I am a cricket fanatic, so being at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day is pretty special, especially this year as it's the Ashes - only about 100,000 people in the 'colosseum' on this day, pretty small sporting crowd for Melbourne really.....
