Is there a need for Civil Engineers in Tassie?

I can't seem to find many jobs advertised for Civil Engineers in Tas. I've searched all the usual job websites for work but can't seem to find much. I like the look of Tasmania, being from Cornwall it looks very similar. But if there's no work for my hubby there's not much point in looking :no:

 

Has anybody got any suggestions of websites to look on or people in Tasmania to contact to find out about Engineering jobs for him. His specialism is in Water/Drainage Design and Highways/Roads.

 

Any info greatly appreciated.

Hi Lou,

My brother in law is a surveyor for Hobart Shire for roads etc (boy! does he get a wee bit of stick from us pmsl) ... I am back in Tasmania tomorrow evening and I can certainly ask him for some information for you, hopefully he could point you guys in the right direction.

These are the links for the individual Councils in Tasmania - may be worth contacting them in case they know of any vacancies occurring shortly:

Although my BIL is based in Hobart he is responsible for all of Tasmania's roads lol... after a few wines we do let him know how we feel lol

Since my OH has motorcycled his way around NZ's south island his pet hobby horse has become the state of our roads (especially in the non-marginal electorates down south here!)

LOL My OH has cycled all over both north & south islands NZ, motor cycled x 2 over Australia and like your OH shakes his head at the Tassie roads... still they have invested heavily on the east Tamar so personally I cant complain too much....happy days eh :jiggy:and I have known worse roads in my life lol Susie
