:laugh:Can anyone give us an idea of how the weather varies in the different areas of oz? We are considering adelaide, perth but are still open minded. Alot of people seem to be going to Brisbane from here.

Perth and Adelaide are nice but boring small cities surrounded by thousands of miles of nothingness, Queensland has warm weather all year round and nice beaches , great for a holiday but l would'nt want to live there, Sydney is too big, crowded and expensive, but parts of coastal NSW are nice, Victoria is the best place to live 4 seasons, snows in the mountains and you can enjoy a log fire in winter and in summer warm enough to enjoy some of the best beaches in OZ along the surf coast and great ocean road, the state has lots of mountains and nice scenery , low unemplyment, plenty of things to do and see.

Adelaides nicer then Perth and houses cheaper , but unemplyment higher, the climates of both cities is about the same, relatively mild winters and hot summers, Melboune and Victoria has a cooler climate, Brisbane and Queensland more tropical, warm all year round, Tasmania is has a cold climate similar to England.

OZboy has nailed but failed to note that you have to speak slowly to people in Brisbane, to much Rugby League has affected them.

Fab very helpful. How long have you lived in that area?? Is Victoris good for families, i.e. lots of places to go, good facilities , schools. We would like somewhere warm ( but not excessively!!!) don't mind occ rain as long as it's not like UK! Would love to be able to explore green areas, mountains etc as well as having fab beaches nearby.

The Mornigton peninsular on the beach outside Melbourne is popular with british immigrants, but l've never been there so l can't comment. The Dandenong mountains 40 minutes - 1 hours outside Melbourne is very nice, No beach nearby, but l saw lots of nice affordable houses with pools ,many on small acerages .

Also lots of nice coastal towns around Geelong outside Melbourne , like Anglesea, Queenscliffe, Ocean grove ,that have great beaches around 1 hours outside mELBOURNE.

Nice suburbs inside Melbourne close to the city like Kew, Camberwell, mALVERN are very expensive.

MAybe also look at Adelaide if you want a quiter smaller city with more affordable housing.
