Guest jepeec Posted June 9, 2008 Hello all, I am about to embark on the process of applying for a 175 visa. I have at I.T background (both education and work experience) and my specialization is on the MODL list. I am looking for some advice with regards migration agents. I would be interested to hear about others experience of using an agent as there appears to be an awful lot out there with seemingly not a lot to choose between them! Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Guest TheHollies Posted June 9, 2008 Hi jepeec Just wanted to wish you good luck with your application. We are applying for a 175 visa aswell. We are using Thinking Australia. I know its early days for us still, but they have been brilliant so far. They reply to emails really quickly (1 instance was at 10 pm on a Sunday night!!), they return calls quickly too and know the answers to any questions you may have. Alot of people on here are using Go Matilda aswell and they have good reviews. Good luck with it, whoever you decide to sign up with! :wubclub:
Guest davyone1 Posted June 9, 2008 Hi Jepeec I'm using a guy called sammy who is based in London. He is an Australian Solicitor, and a registered immigration agent, and he's been fantastic nothing to much trouble for him, and the added bonus he's local to you. If you would like to pm me, I'll pass on his details and you could talk to him and make your own mind up.Good luck with the immigration process. Guest AJM2 Posted June 9, 2008 We are using PTlabs - the guy specialises in ACS applications and IT Bods. He has been fab so far!
Guest cantwait Posted June 10, 2008 Hi We are using Thinking Australia, and like yourselves, my OH works in IT. They helped us get through the ACS and are really reliable. We have had emails replied to on Sunday evenings and usually within an hour or so of sending them. Karen
Guest mandisfam Posted June 10, 2008 Hi, We are using Go Matilda, my oh is an IT bod, and Go Matilda have a guy who specialises in IT people. He is ex IT himself. My oh has just finished writing his ACS Rpl should be ready to submit very soon. Go Matilda have been very helpful so far, fingerscrossed with get a positive result with MODL status. Ptlabs Consulting is also used a lot by IT bods. I have heard very good reports from them too. Good Luck Mandisfam
Guest jepeec Posted June 10, 2008 Thanks for all the comments, tips and good luck! I might follow up with PTlabs as they were also mentioned in last months Australia/New Zealand magazine as IT specialists although I am not sure whether picking a company in the UK may be easier in the long run (communication wise)? Has anyone any experience with a company called 1st Contact? Thanks again and best of luck to everyone.
Guest mandisfam Posted June 10, 2008 Hi, We got a quote from 1st contact, very good initial advice and a fair quote too. But opted for Go Matilda due to there reputation on here. Have heard of others using 1st contact and have never heard anything bad about them. I would suggest you get initial advice and quote from at least 3 agents and then see how you feel. Most offer initial free advice, except ptlabs, I think its $50 for initial advice. Good Luck Mandisfam

thekevjones 13 Posted June 11, 2008 My advice (and what I did) was use them in the early stages for FREE advice. Rest assured they will make it sound like a daunting task and you can't do it without them. You'll typically pay a lot for their professional services. If you are prepared to do your own research and work hard you should be able to do it independently. I was in a similar position 6 months ago. I completed my RPL for ACS assessment in about 10 weeks. It was a long slog but worthwhile and rewarding when you get the nod from the powers that be. :spinny: The rplhelp website was also a priceless source of information.
