Unless the articles you have read were in scientific journals and the studies have been repeated with the same results I would leave it well alone. What does your specialist say about it? The chemicals in plants can be incredibly powerful and react with other medications. For example, there is a berry that grows common in the UK which is pretty looking - looks like a juicy blackberry and has been used down the ages to treat a range of things and in your part of the world is called Australian Carrot Fern. Sounds pleasant or innocuous? But it is most commonly known as Hemlock. One of the most effective poisons on the planet with two berries enough to kill a child.
