School year help

Hi

we are hoping to move across to Brisbane in July/August. I've been having a reccie at the local schools - my oldest daughter is 13 (dob 1/5/03) and will have finished year 9, youngest is 11 (22/11/05) and will have finished y6 in the uk and moving up to senior school for the next academic year.

was looking at senior schools - but then realised that my youngest might still need another year of primary in Oz???

because trying to find one school wasn't stressful enough already ?

Anyone know what year she'd be in Oz?

Hi Thom - your younger daughter will be in Year 6 for the last few months of this calendar year and so will need to enroll in a primary school. My daughter was born earlier in 2005 and so she is in Year 7. The cut-off for which year you go into is 1 July. I think your older daughter will be in Year 9 at High School.

Remember the school year matches the calendar year here so if she is year 6, as Loopylu says, she will only have a few months. Term 3 ends on 15 September and Term 4 is 3 October to 8 December. She would then enter High School on 22 january 2018.

Thanks for the info - it will probably be good for them to have a few months to ' catch up' a bit. Need to start looking at junior schools as well now then! X
