RandL
Hi, this probably has been asked before , but how to you manage the timeline of a house sale in the UK. with the uncertainty of no commitment by the buyer until days before exchange, how do you organise/ commit to the removal date , flights, car ..... . When we came back from OZ a few years ago, it seemed so much easier . Contract was signed at the beginning of the sale process, giving you better clarity, to the point that we were uplifting a few days before settlement and flew out on settlement day, got the txt it was all done in Singapore. It's time to go back to OZ , but it seems so much harder to organise from this end ? any advise would be very much appreciated. thanks RandL
RandL
Hi, is there anybody who could move this one into the real-estate forum, I put it here in error ? Thanks RandL
VERYSTORMY
On the way there, we sold our house and exchanged on the day of the move, coming back, we made the move and exchanged afterward by email.
adele244
I agree it is so hard. You need to get your stuff shipped at the very least 4-8 weeks before flying then there is the "what ifs" like what if all your stuff is on its way to Oz and the sale falls through - you are in deep do dah!!! RandL
Thanks for the reply @adele244. That's what we are concerned about and also how flexible the removals companies are to do the lift up on short notice !? you don't want to give away to the buyer what your plans are either as they might try a last minute squeeze for a reduced price if they know you need to go. Flight are often cheaper if you buy them way in advance , may have to try a different approach this time and go for last-minute offers. We are lucky that we have friends in perth , so we can bunk with them for a few weeks and then camp in rental until our stuff arrives , we have done that one before ... Little grandad
We just decided on a move date as soon as we put our house up for sale. We had looked at how properties were moving in our area, and had talked at length to the estate agents, insisting they didn't mention Australia! Doree boner movers said they were flexible and could arrange pick up of our things at a few days notice and would hold goods if needs be before shipping. We were very fortunate that we had family to stay with in Oz, and if we got a quick sale ditto for UK. It did work out fine for us. The house sale finally went through and Our booked flights were 3 days later! we were honestly prepared to leave the sale with the estate agents, we had made our minds up and that was that.
