goldyshell
We are toying with the idea of purchasing a 20ft container to ship our belongings back to the UK from Perth. Does anyone know rough shipping costs with an owned container? and anything else we need to know In no rush for our belongings as going back to a sick family member, renting our house out in Bunbury but don't think we will ever return full time. Thanks
Guest The Pom Queen
To be honest I have no idea, I know the containers are usually around $3,000 to buy a 20ft one over here.
AJ
by the time you paid all the port charges would you not be just as cheap getting a company to do it?
goldyshell
Yeah maybe. Im just in no rush and have somewhere to store it here for free. It would be an investment to sell when it finally arrives in the UK. But really need an idea of the shipping cost of an owner container. Guest
Very few people opt for this which is why you probably won't get many replies on the subject. I suggest using the forum search and finding a few old threads where people did this (iirc they were usually going UK-Aus) and the pitfalls and plus points they found when buying and self shipping. TBH I don't think its really an investment buying a shipping container. Either way, using your own or a shipping companies, it'll arrive in about the same timeframe and all that. Just you'll have more to do to organise it, clean it (apparently they can arrive dirty inside), load it, paperwork and so on to get it cleared and to your door.
